Los Angeles – In a holiday season like none other, Metrolink is bringing the magic of the holidays to Southern California with a holiday campaign highlighting local small businesses throughout the region.
SoCal residents can keep their holiday shopping on track while supporting the local economy on Small Business Saturday? - and throughout the year - by shopping local businesses online, taking advantage of store pick-up or ordering takeout at many of Metrolink’s SoCal Explorer partners. From handmade pasta to handcrafted Kombucha to international cuisine, SoCal Explorer partners offer a variety of food, beverages and products for everyone to enjoy.
“Riders are encouraged to stay local this holiday season,” said Metrolink Chair Brian Humphrey. "Metrolink is supporting the local economy by forging ongoing partnerships with destination marketing organizations, tourism groups, and small business retailers to create a climate of support within the communities our trains serve in Southern California.”
Metrolink is committed to the safety of its staff and riders. For those who must travel, Metrolink offers contactless ticketing on its Mobile App, and riders can be assured there’s plenty of space for social distancing by using the online tool How Full is My Train?. For the safety of riders and Metrolink conductors and engineers, face masks are required on all station platforms and aboard all Metrolink trains. Passenger feedback led to Metrolink doubling its hand-sanitizer stations. And Metrolink has implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols, which include a daily deep cleaning of the trains, and a Clean Care Crew that wipes and disinfects trains throughout the day and uses an electrostatic sprayer to mist hospital-grade disinfectant on all train cars – including hard-to-reach places.
